Boris Zhayvoronok

Boris Zhayvoronok studied voice performance at the Kharkov Music Academy 
in the Ukraine, and then was a soloist with the Kharkov Opera and, later, 
with the Kiev Opera, where he sang leading baritone roles including 
the title role in Tchaikovsky's "Evgeny Onegin", Yeletsky in Tchaikovsky's 
"The Queen of Spades", Germont in Verdi's "La Traviata" and many more. 

From 1980 to 1998, B. Zhayvoronok was a soloist with the Aleksandrov Academic 
Ensemble in Moscow, performing Russian Folk, Romantic, and contemporary 
songs and travelling extensively throughout Europe, Japan, China, Canada 
and the United States. 

For his achievements and creative work, he was awarded the highest title, 
a National Artist of Russia. 

Since 1998, Boris has settled in the USA where he lives in Long Beach. 

He has performed at the annual Russian Cultural Festival at Cal. State University in 
Long Beach, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion with the Los Angeles Russian Folk 
Orchestra, at the Irvine Barclay Theater with the Pacific Virtuosi, and at many 
other venues. 

His repertoire includes Russian and European classical songs, Russian and 
Ukrainian folk songs, old Russian romances, and contemporary Russian songs.
