Svetlana Portnyansky graduated from the Voice Department of the Gnesin Musical Academy in Moscow  in 1986. She was a soloist of MosConcert and an actress 
at  Moscow Jewish Theatre "Shalom". 

Since 1991, she lives in the United States, currently - in Los Angeles. 

S. Portnyansky is a laureate of the International Festival "Steps to Parnassus" in Moscow and of the International Jewish Festival in New York. She performs for Russian and Jewish audiences all over the world with her solo programs that include songs in Russian, Yiddish, Hebrew, and English. 

Svetlana also studied Sacred Music at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York and was a cantor at Bet Tora congregation in Los Angeles. 

Currently, Svetlana Portnyansky is a cantor at Temple Isaiah  in Newport Beach, 
at 2401 Irvine Ave., tel. (949) 548-6900, www.templeisaiahoc.org .

Each Fall, Svetlana gives a song concert at Temple Isaiah with all proceeds going to charitable causes.
