This
gathering gives an opportunity for Russian-speaking people to meet and socialize in an informal setting in the bar and in the outdoor patio of a classy restaurant "Bistango" in
Irvine, with live music and dance floor.
It will be
now happening regularly on the first Friday of each month.
We gather at 7:30 p.m. in the bar for drinks, appetizers, socializing and dancing.
From 9 p.m., everybody is invited to the patio for singing Russian songs,
starting with a semi-professional mini-concert of popular hits,
then singing along, with the accompaniment on guitar and keyboard.
Please bring printed verses of your
favorite songs (a few copies).
[ Gas heaters are available for a cold night. Also, bring your
jackets. ]
Each
evening, there will be happy-hour specials for $5
for martinis and small plates of appetizers (Tapas menu)
served in the bar and in the patio from 5 p.m. through 9 p.m.
On Friday nights, the Nick Pepper Trio (keyboards, guitar,
drums, vocals)
plays a mix of classic rock-n-roll and blues in the bar from 7:30 p.m. through
midnight.
Also, you
may come earlier and have a dinner in the dining room of the restaurant,
featuring
an artful New American cuisine (see menu).
No
reservation is needed - just come and bring your friends.
The
previous such mixers at Bistango were attended by 20 to 30 people each
(see photos below).
